About

I spent more than twenty years in specialist B2B journalism, intelligence and research, most of it in metals price reporting. I started at Metal Bulletin and was latterly Global Editorial Director of Fastmarkets.

At Fastmarkets my job was to reshape a global team, what it did and how it thought about what it did, around a commercial imperative: to become a licensed supplier of prices for contracts, not a subscription news-and-prices service that misvalued both. I grew the team from about 70 to more than 100 and cut underperforming price assessments by 25%.

When the cost of plausible content falls to nothing, the premium moves to the judgment behind it. That is what I write about in The Judgment Observatory, and why I built the S2N Gauge to measure it.

What I do for clients, and how it starts: Work with me.
